Laoniu Foundation Jointed Mengniu Group to Donate RMB 10 million
The biggest amount of money that has been donated to Chinese Red Cross Association for the snowstorm; Laoniu Foundation is sponsored by the top management team of Mengniu Group specialized in the commonweal affairs
It was reported that on Feb. 4th, Laoniu Foundation jointed Inner Mongolia Mengniu Dairy Group Co., Ltd. to donate RMB 10 million for the snowstorm in South China, which had been received by Ms. Peng Peiyun, the former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Conference, Honored Chairman of National Women's Association and Chairman of Chinese Red Cross Association. Reporters were told by Chinese Red Cross Association that this was the biggest amount of donation received by them ever since the snowstorm happened; and Mengniu Group had also become the 1st private enterprise to contribute for disaster areas in South China.
  It was known that the donated capital would be used for dozens of cities in ten provinces in the south suffered by the snowstorm, especially the key cities such as Wuhan, Changsha, Hefei and Guangzhou etc. and on the reconstruction project of the heavy areas including Kaili, Guizhou and Binzhou, Hunan, which had had neither water supply nor electricity for consistently dozens of days. The capital will be consolidated for use by the Red Cross with the detailed information reported to Mengniu Group.    
  It was told by Chinese Red Cross Association that it only took Mengniu Group one day to confirm the idea of donation and one hour's time to transfer the amount to the bank account of the Red Cross after the signing of contract, which had created Mengniu Speed of Contribution to Snowstorm. The donation includes RMB 8 million in cash and RMB 2 million for milk; all the amount had been transferred on the bank account of the Red Cross by the afternoon of Feb. 3rd with milk prepared already by the Marketing System in the south provinces of Mengniu Group to be delivered in the hands of the sufferers. In addition, besides the direct aid in the suffered areas, the capital will be also used for the reconstruction project after disaster. Some farmers deprived from the houses by the snowstorm will get aided by this donation for home rebuilding.  
  This year, ten provinces in southern China have suffered the snowstorm that has never happened within 50 years in the history. All kinds of infrastructures including water supply, electricity and transportation etc. have been damaged in different degrees and caused serious trouble to the daily life of the local people, the situation of whom have caught great attention from the Central Party, the State Council, governmental departments of different degrees and social circles. Mengniu Group has stood on the first line again against the snowstorm with its consistent care for the commonweal affairs.    
   On the site of donation, Mr. Yang Wenjun, CEO of Mengniu Group received the Medals of Red Cross and Universal Love. Mr. Yang indicated that the words of Universal Love inscribed by Dr. Sun Yat-sen were completely in line with the corporate idea of Mengniu Group, i.e. Wish Every Chinese People Healthy Physically and Mentally. Mengniu hoped that the care and support of 30,000 Mengniu People could be transferred to millions of farmers and people fighting in the snowstorm through the Red Cross.
  Laoniu Foundation, as another main body of the same donation, in fact, has deep relationship with Mengniu Group. On Jan. 12, 2005, Mr. Niu Gensheng, Chairman of BOD of Mengniu Group contributed his entire personal share to set up Laoniu Foundation, which was the first time in the world for an entrepreneur to donate all his share; thus Mr. Niu has been named as the First Share Donator in the World. After this, the top management team of Mengniu Group joined the Foundation, too with big share of stock.
  It was known that since the establishment of Laoniu Foundation, it has learned some successful experiences from Bill Gates Fund and Li Ka Shing Fund, aiming at the commonweal aid to Farmers, Villages and Agriculture, education and medical affairs. It was calculated that by the end of 2007, Laoniu Foundation has donated 70% of her capital to education and medical projects.
  Mr. Yang Wenjun commented on the snowstorm that at this moment of risk, action sounded more powerful than language; Mengniu Group would make all efforts to help the people in the suffered areas against the difficulty. He believed that we were sure to defeat this disaster with the support of governments from different degrees, social circles and mutual efforts of the people in the suffered areas. Handing over the check of RMB 10 million to Chinese Red Cross, Mr. Yang indicated that he hoped all the donated money and other materials could reach the sufferers a.s.a.p.

Mengniu Group will choose another 500 primary schools for the free donation for one year and raise the total number of beneficiaries to 1,000 schools with a total investment of no less than that of 2006;
Ÿ           On September 26, 2007, 6 more partners joined China Milk Love Action. They are Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Saving Children Organization, Arla Foods, KFC, Sohu and Lotus Supermarket.
